Three Reasons to Breakaway This Year
January 2, 2013 | RogerWith the new year, our thoughts are turning to new ships. In particular, the Norwegian Breakaway. Now granted, with offices near New York City, we’re partial because of its location. After all, it isn’t too often that brand new ships make New York City their homeport – but there are some truly unique features that make the Breakaway worth sailing on. We’ve come up with three great ones that we thought we’d share today.
Top Destinations for 2013: Hawaii
December 19, 2012 | RogerIt’s a taste of the South Pacific without needing to bring the passport along. Hawaii easily makes our list of top destinations for 2013. Frankly, there’s so much to see and do that it would arguably make our list year after year. But this year in particular, there are so many great ways to see our 50th state, and birthplace of President Obama that it only makes sense to visit.
Cruise Ship Artist: Dan “LEBO” LeBatard
December 6, 2012 | RogerNorwegian Cruise Line hasn’t even launched the New York themed Norwegian Breakaway on the high seas yet, but they can’t seem to keep a lid on the excitement that they’re building from the Norwegian Getaway. Like the Breakaway, the Getaway is going to be themed around its homeport which for this ship is Miami, and they’ve chosen Miami artist Dan “LEBO” LeBatard to design the hull art for the ship, scheduled to launch in early 2014.
Houston, we have a Cruiseship!
November 29, 2012 | RogerThe people who built the Houston Bayport Cruise Terminal have got to be breathing a sigh of relief these days. The $100 million terminal was built in 2008 to host no ships whatsoever. The terminal has been an expensive white elephant for the city until this month, when both Princess and Norwegian Cruise Line announced plans to homeport in Houston, instead of its more entrenched Texas counterpart, Galveston.
All You Can Drink? Cruise Line Drinking Packages
November 19, 2012 | RogerEarlier this month, another cruise line announced that they are beginning to explore an “all you can drink” package aboard a number of their ships as a possible enhancement to all cruises. Norwegian Cruise Line announced that they are jumping on the beverage package bandwagon, testing an all-inclusive drinks package on three of their ships across the fleet.
Three Reasons to Cruise Hawaii
November 16, 2012 | RogerHawaii is that bucket list destination that seems just out of reach for people. When there’s so much to see and do and a limited time to do it, how can someone comfortably get the best possible flavor of the state without either breaking the bank or taking weeks off at a time? There is a three word answer to that question: Pride of America. There are a few reasons why it makes sense to take a cruise in Hawaii, and here are three of the best.
Coming Soon: More New Ships!
October 26, 2012 | RogerIt has been a busy week for corporate offices across the cruise industry this week. Earlier this week, Norwegian Cruise Line announced its plans to build another Norwegian Breakaway type-ship in the near future. Royal Caribbean announced its plans to build another Oasis type ship for 2016, and today Carnival announced another Breeze-type ship for delivery in 2016, and a new Holland America ship in 2015.
Cruise Ship Artist: Peter Max
October 25, 2012 | RogerArt is always a focus on cruises. In fact, many ships might as well be art museums with the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of orginal works that hang throughout cruise ships today. Add in the art auction, and sometimes a ship can almost feel like an episode of Gallery Girls.
Sneak Peek at the Norwegian Breakaway
October 12, 2012 | RogerThe Norwegian Breakaway is getting ready to set sail out of New York City in the Spring of 2013, and like other Norwegian Cruise Line ships, the Breakaway will not disappoint when it comes to entertainment. With all the different options onboard, including Second City comedy, Cirque du Soleil, an authentic blues bar, dueling piano bars, and two different Broadway shows on every sailing, this truly will be an entertainment district.
