The Carnival Destiny is about to get a very major transformation. So major, in fact, that Carnival has even decided to change the name of the ship – so come April of next year, say hello to the Carnival Sunshine! This $155 million top to bottom refurbishment will change virtually every aspect of this ship from top to bottom. Here are some of the highlights!

One of the newer Carnival Funship initiatives has been an adults-only Serenity area, and on the new Sunshine, Carnival is taking this to a new level with a three-level adults only deck, pool and on board waterfall! It’s a nice companion to the new Carnival WaterWorks water park which will feature five different slides and 40 different water features for fun lovers of all ages.

There’s also all the exclusive dining options on the Sunshine as well. We love the idea of the Shake Spot, where guests get to chill out with hand-crafted milkshakes and fruitshakes, as well as the new Pizzeria del Capitano that is slated for the Sunshine. It’s the traditional 24 hour pizzeria that you’ve come to know and love on Carnival but with a twist, because anytime day or night, the pizza will be hand tossed artisanal-style with fresh flavors and ingredients.

Also, check out Havana Bar, a cuban cafe at night and a Latin courtyard at night featuring classic Cuban cocktails and live music nightly. This is in addition to all the FunShip 2.0 enhancements that you’ll find across the fleet including Guy Fieri’s Burger Joint, the Blue Iguana Cantina and Tequila Bars, the Red Frog Rum Bar, the EA Sports Bar and a whole lot more.
