My Favorite French Window
April 18, 2016 | Jackie Sheckler FinchNo two cruises and ships are ever the same. I seem to find something new each time I cruise.

Walking on glacier said to be portal to center of earth
April 11, 2016 | Jackie Sheckler FinchToday I walked on a glacier. I’ve seen many glaciers in my travels but I’ve never set foot on one. This was quite an adventure.
The glacier I visited is one of the most famous sites in Iceland primarily because it was featured in the novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne in which the entrance to the mysterious interior of our planet is located on Snaefellsjökull.
Unusual cabin key part of pleasures of Silver II cruise
April 4, 2016 | Jackie Sheckler FinchOver the years, I’ve had several different types of room keys on cruise ships. Some were actual metal keys. Most were credit-card type keys that you either slide through a side slot in the door or hold in front of the lock.
Once I even had a velvet knot that I was to loop on the outside of my door to let room service or others know that someone in the cabin didn’t want to be disturbed. Otherwise, the door was unlocked when I was not in the cabin. No cabin keys were necessary.

About That Elevator
February 23, 2016 | Jackie Sheckler FinchBefore I took a recent Amadeus Silver II cruise, I googled to read some reviews of the cruise ship to get a glimpse of where I would be living for 11 days.
One cruise reviewer wrote that the Silver II has a swimming pool and no elevator.
It is just the opposite.
Shore Excursion: Sweet treat at Cologne Chocolate Museum
February 17, 2016 | Jackie Sheckler FinchThe woman behind me said she feels as though Willy Wonka might pop up any moment and that the Oompa Loompas will come traipsing out singing their strange song. I know what she means.
The Chocolate Museum in Cologne or Köln, as the Germans call this city, is definitely an unusual sweet treat. Made of glass and steel, the futuristic-looking Chocolate Museum seems like a ship floating on the Rhine River.
