Global Cell Phones: Pros and Cons
November 21, 2012 | RogerFor most people, an international vacation means an opportunity to be something most of us don’t get a chance to be anymore – off the communication grid. For a few of us, that’s a welcome opportunity. For others, its a real challenge – especially because using that smart phone means an extremely high mobile phone bill the next month in most cases. A number of companies offer the ability to rent or buy a prepaid global cell phone. This option has pros and cons to it, though. Let’s explore!
All You Can Drink? Cruise Line Drinking Packages
November 19, 2012 | RogerEarlier this month, another cruise line announced that they are beginning to explore an “all you can drink” package aboard a number of their ships as a possible enhancement to all cruises. Norwegian Cruise Line announced that they are jumping on the beverage package bandwagon, testing an all-inclusive drinks package on three of their ships across the fleet.
Three Reasons to Cruise Hawaii
November 16, 2012 | RogerHawaii is that bucket list destination that seems just out of reach for people. When there’s so much to see and do and a limited time to do it, how can someone comfortably get the best possible flavor of the state without either breaking the bank or taking weeks off at a time? There is a three word answer to that question: Pride of America. There are a few reasons why it makes sense to take a cruise in Hawaii, and here are three of the best.

First, Air New Zealand created this little air safety briefing for their flights with cameos from cast members and movie director, Peter Jackson. Now, even Crystal Cruises is getting into the act with some special excursions this December.

Budget Watch: Royal Caribbean Loosens Alcohol Policies
November 8, 2012 | RogerThere’s finally a new answer to one of the most common cruising questions. We get a lot of guests asking us if they can bring their own alcohol aboard ship to enjoy in the room without having to pay the mark-up of bar prices. The answer has almost always been, no. There have been some exceptions, of course, but they often involved corking fees that cost as much as buying the bottle of wine on the ship to begin with.
Great Cruising Music: Tennis
November 8, 2012 | RogerOk, so this might not be the usual post we put up here, but while we were out traveling in the past week, this album “Cape Dory” by Tennis kept appearing and reappearing on our iPods. The album is definitely nautical in theme and really upbeat. The more we thought about it, the more we realized this is just excellent music to take aboard and listen to while riding the waves on board ship.
Coming Soon: More New Ships!
October 26, 2012 | RogerIt has been a busy week for corporate offices across the cruise industry this week. Earlier this week, Norwegian Cruise Line announced its plans to build another Norwegian Breakaway type-ship in the near future. Royal Caribbean announced its plans to build another Oasis type ship for 2016, and today Carnival announced another Breeze-type ship for delivery in 2016, and a new Holland America ship in 2015.
Cruise Ship Artist: Peter Max
October 25, 2012 | RogerArt is always a focus on cruises. In fact, many ships might as well be art museums with the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of orginal works that hang throughout cruise ships today. Add in the art auction, and sometimes a ship can almost feel like an episode of Gallery Girls.
