Who needs Room Service? 5 Amazing Manhattan Food Deliveries

Who needs Room Service? 5 Amazing Manhattan Food Deliveries

The writing is on the wall, room service is doomed! What used to be considered a luxury is fast becoming a tool for the lazy. Average food at best, delivered to the hotel room – lukewarm, and just a depressing reminder that of all the amazing food options that fill any city, the best that this hotel has to offer is a not so great Caesar salad attached to a dried out and overpriced hamburger. And with the foodie revolution offering options for different flavors everywhere, some hotels are doing what’s right – quietly killing off room service – just like the Midtown New York Hilton is doing this year. This is news today, because one of the largest four star hotels in New York has decided that there’s just no need for it.

After all there’s amazing food everywhere in New York City, and seemingly anything can be delivered to a hotel room. Here’s five great dishes that we thought would look great to enjoy with that Central Park view.

1. Borscht

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that you can get amazing Borscht in New York City. With such strong Russian and Jewish communities, the beet based soup can be found in nearly any Glatt Kosher restaurant or deli worth its salt. And, fortunately, for afficionados that want to take it easy in Midtown Manhattan, its available by delivery from Ariel Glatt Restaurant, a holdover from the kosher spots famous in the Diamond District.

2. Quinoa Turkey Meatloaf

OK, so if the meatloaf has to have quinoa and turkey in it, chances are someone’s fit enough to walk the few blocks to the restaurant that’s gonna serve it… but for a healthy lazy day full of something like the comfort food Mom served… (albeit packed full of quinoa and turkey instead of ground beef and breadcrumbs), this amazing superfood dish from Calista will really hit the spot.

3. Bulgogi

We’re fans of this traditional Korean BBQ here in the office, and frankly everyone should be. Bulgogi is super tasty and is great anytime of the day – even in a breakfast omelet.  Of course, can anyone ever go wrong with Rib Eye in any form? Korea Palace will deliver to the Midtown Hilton, allowing a definite step up from the former room service fare.

4. Cookies

Who doesn’t love a cookie? And delivery, late night cookies are starting to become a thing. Some people like a nightcap cocktail to end the night? We’ll take a nightcap chocolate chip cookie any day of the week… and Insomnia Cookies delivers with fresh, warm desserts up until 3 AM nightly at dozens of locations along the East Coast and upper Midwest, including Manhattan, of course.

5. Ceviche

Tapas is always welcome, and why not bring Tapas to the hotel room? Rincon del Sabor in Manhattan will do just that serving up its Ceviche de Camaron to a hotel room any day of the week, complete with rice and fried corn to make the meal.
