The Best Cruise Ever
July 17, 2013 | RogerThe best cruise ever went up for sale today. If we could only choose one cruise to take in our life, this would be it. It’s on the Oceania Insignia in January, 2015 and it lasts 180 days! Six months on a ship seems like a long time, but with all the places that this ship is going, it doesn’t feel long enough.
Carnival’s Dinner and Dancing
July 15, 2013 | RogerWe had the opportunity to board the Carnival Splendor in New York City this past week for a quick ship tour and a nice lunch. The five year old ship just made the Big Apple its home year round and is currently sailing on eight night itineraries right out of Manhattan. The brightly decorated ship screams fun and the service and food in the main dining room was, of course, tasty as always – but the surprise in the dining room is that the wait staff do more than serve.
Protecting Against The Unknown
July 12, 2013 | RogerDespite what many “consumer advocates” tend to say, travel insurance is not a bad deal at all. In fact, at least a few of its former critics are coming around, as evidenced by Caroline Mayer’s recent article in Forbes. And the truth is that taking travel insurance does make sense most of the time, especially for international travel, because its not just about protecting against cancellation penalties, but about making sure that there’s protection from the unforeseen when traveling abroad.
Coming Soon: Regent Seven Seas Explorer
July 10, 2013 | RogerJust announced today, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, one of the premier luxury cruise lines will be introducing its first new ship in a decade in 2016! This is pretty exciting news for the three ship fleet that has ushered in the age of the all-inclusive luxury cruise.
The Most Dangerous Airport Becomes the Most Amazing Cruiseport
June 14, 2013 | RogerWe don’t normally talk about the physical ports here. After all, a destination isn’t normally defined by the building travelers pass through on the way in or out of a city. But the story behind Hong Kong’s new cruise terminal is too excellent not to share. As of this week, what used to be one of the world’s most dangerous airports has become one of the most amazing cruise ports.
The Most Pristine Place on Earth
June 5, 2013 | RogerThe Galapagos made the news this week with Celebrity’s Xpedition ship getting its hand slapped for unauthorized lobster. Really, this is a thing down there! The Galapagos Islands are one of the most pristine places on earth where you can still visit, and whose environment the government of Ecuador fiercely protects. We expect the luxury 99 passenger yacht that Celebrity Cruises operates to be back fully on track shortly, but there are some other more intimate options worth considering as well, including the very small group cruises that adventure travel company G Adventures offers.
Who needs Room Service? 5 Amazing Manhattan Food Deliveries
June 3, 2013 | RogerThe writing is on the wall, room service is doomed! What used to be considered a luxury is fast becoming a tool for the lazy. Average food at best, delivered to the hotel room – lukewarm, and just a depressing reminder that of all the amazing food options that fill any city, the best that this hotel has to offer is a not so great Caesar salad attached to a dried out and overpriced hamburger. And with the foodie revolution offering options for different flavors everywhere, some hotels are doing what’s right – quietly killing off room service – just like the Midtown New York Hilton is doing this year. This is news today, because one of the largest four star hotels in New York has decided that there’s just no need for it.
Summer Vacation: Three Bargain Destinations
May 24, 2013 | RogerHaven’t planned a summer vacation yet? Sometimes the best deals happen by making plans at the last minute. In fact, the next few weeks feature some of the best buys of the year for vacations! We’ve found three surprising locations where the deals are good, but act fast because the sale season for these destinations can be surprisingly short.
Dash and a Flash
May 20, 2013 | RogerSales happen in the travel industry on a daily basis. So many, so often that even we can’t keep track of all of them. However, this week there are two really great sales from our travel partners that we want to shed some light on, offering great value for travelers this week only. Be it a beach and pool vacation, or a cruise to just about anywhere, there’s a special deal available this week.
An Old World Christmas
May 13, 2013 | RogerSummer may be coming, but this morning we’ve got the holidays on the brain. Christmas is always a magical time of year, and its a holiday that truly comes alive in Europe, especially at the Christmas Markets in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. And there are lots of great ways that travelers can catch the Christmas spirit all across the continent this December.
