Coming Soon: More New Ships!

It has been a busy week for corporate offices across the cruise industry this week. Earlier this week, Norwegian Cruise Line announced its plans to build another Norwegian Breakaway type-ship in the near future. Royal Caribbean announced its plans to build another Oasis type ship for 2016, and today Carnival announced another Breeze-type ship for delivery in 2016, and a new Holland America ship in 2015.The Holland America ship will be the first addition to the fleet since 2010’s Nieuw Amsterdam and will be 99,000 tonnes, about 15% larger than anything else the line sails today and will expect to fit about 2,660 passengers when fully loaded. This will signify a new class of ship which prides itself on a deluxe experience on a mid-size ship.

Carnival’s ship is expected to launch in 2016 and will be most similar to the Carnival Breeze. Here at the offices, we always find the shipbuilding process to be fascinating, especially with the larger ships. One of our favorite traditions is the coin ceremony, a tradition that dates back to ancient times. Carnival Breeze had its coin ceremony about a year ago, and they put together a video of the event. Check it out, and don’t forget if you like what you read here, let your friends know and share this article on your Facebook or Twitter feeds!
