Chance to set a Guinness World Record while cruising with MSC Cruises

Want to set a Guinness World Record? Also hoping to take a cruise? Some lucky folks are going to get to do both amazing adventures.

Thrill-seekers looking to get their name in the record books will have a chance as MSC Cruises plants to roll out its Guinness World Records entertainment program across its entire fleet.

Guests have had the chance to break official Guinness World Records through a variety of activities ever since MSC Cruises introduced the entertainment program on two of its ships, MSC Seascape and MSC World Europa, in March of last year. It is now available on 12 ships and will be rolled out across of the company’s fleet within the next year.

“The program has been hugely popular among guests, both adults and children alike,” Steve Leatham, vice president of entertainment at MSC Cruises, said in a press release.

“To date, MSC Cruises guests and crew have broken 30 Guinness World Records,” Leatham said. “From being the fastest to pull 100 meters of rope (about the length of a football field), to being the quickest to complete 20 chair rotations in under 21 seconds, or putting the most socks on one foot in under 30 seconds, guests have attained record-breaking glory in a variety of quirky ways.”

While cruising at sea, guests can participate in record-breaking activities during the day and audition for the main evening show, where the lucky finalists can demonstrate their talents and aim to become the next iconic record holder.

“Guinness World Records exemplifies the kind of successful activities we offer on MSC Cruises’ ships, engaging the entire family,” Matteo Mancini, senior manager family entertainment, said in a press release.

“It’s heartwarming to see all ages come together to compete and play,” Mancini said. “On our ships, everyone can be a star, and Guinness World Records now is not only in the book or in the TV show but has become an unmissable onboard live experience for all.”

Any new record breakers are verified by a GWR Official Adjudicator and awarded a Guinness World Records certificate, giving guests ultimate bragging rights and incredible memories to look back on.

“We’re excited to be able to offer these activities on more of our ships for guests of all ages to enjoy,” Leatham said. “The extended partnership is part of MSC Cruises’ broader strategy to further elevate their onboard immersive entertainment programs and provide carefully crafted entertainment for guests of all tastes.”

So far, the program is available on 12 ships positioned all around the world, including MSC World Europa, MSC Euribia, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa, MSC Seashore, MSC Seascape, MSC Divina, MSC Magnifica, MSC Belissima, MSC Seaside and MSC Splendida.

Some of the MSC Cruises Guinness World Records highlights include:

  • The Records Showis a spectacular stage show modeled after the Guinness World Records TV show, complete with audience participation. Individual guests and even the ship’s crew will attempt a range of record-breaking activities like firing a vortex cannon or mastering a voice-controlled video game.
  • On board, there will be various action-packedChildren’s Programs including entertaining challenges, quizzes, and educational shows that provide engaging entertainment for children and teens.
  • TheGuinness World Records Facts trivia challenge will invite guests to test their knowledge of Guinness World Records.
  • TheGuinness World Records Family Quiz will allow the whole family to join in on the fun using live challenges and Guinness World Records video races to see if audiences can select the winner.
