Pelican Bay ~a Lovely Hotel on Grand Bahama Island
February 5, 2024 | Jackie Sheckler FinchTaking a shuttle ride from our cruise ship dock to Pelican Bay Hotel where my grandson Logan and I will be spending two nights on Grand Bahama Island, driver Barbara told us Pelican Bay is known as “The Happy Hotel.”
After checking in and seeing our room, I can definitely see why Pelican Bay has gained that reputation. Check-in is usually the first impression guests get of a hotel and Pelican Bay does it politely and quickly.
Cruise Destination Trivia: Name the statue?
March 12, 2014 | HeidiSo you’ve been on many cruises. Walked off the ship in many shore stops. But maybe you were in a hurry and didn’t really stop to enjoy something that was right in front of you.

Tripping through the Bahamas on Scooter? Think Again
January 16, 2014 | HeidiSeems like a wonderful vacation idea for a cruise ship stop. Rent a moped or scooter and breeze around a beautiful Bahamas island.
But many cruise lines, as well as the U.S. Department of State, are warning against that choice.
“Serious injuries and deaths have resulted from accidents involving the rental of mopeds or scooters,” noted the FunTimes newsletter on my recent Carnival Cruise Lines voyage. “ We strongly discourage their rental.”
A Private Princess Moment
March 11, 2013 | HeidiWho doesn’t want to own a private island in the Caribbean, a secluded place to get away from it all? When I cruise, I always appreciate the cruise lines that have their own exclusive stopping places with no one else but the cruisers on our trip.
Located in the Bahamas, Princess Cays belongs to Princess Cruise Line. Situated on the southern portion of the island of Eleuthera, Princess Cays is about 80 miles from Nassau.
Bringing the Flash and the Bang
February 1, 2013 | RogerIt seems that like every new ship that comes out adds another bell or whistle to the on board experience these days. There’s always something unique about a new ship. A new experience, a new feature – but sometimes it just rings hollow. Sometimes there’s a lot of flash, but no fireworks. The Norwegian Breakaway, which premieres in May of this year will have the flash and the bang, literally.
