She doesn’t look a day older. But raven-haired Snow White is now 75.
The first Disney princess, Snow White has been charming movie goers since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first released at Hollywood’s Carthay Circle Theater on Dec. 21, 1937.
As the first full-length animated feature film, Walt Disney’s groundbreaking masterpiece drew worldwide acclaim and scorn. Dismissed by some critics as “Disney’s folly,” the cartoon became one of the top grossing films of all time.
Walt Disney World and innovation go hand in hand. The complex of parks and resorts in Orlando have revolutionized the way people travel and the way people experience theme parks, and coming this year Disney is taking the experience one step further with the My Magic+ program. This is part of an 800 million dollar initiative to modernize and improve the time people spend in their parks and resorts.
The way it works is pretty simple. It all starts with wristbands. These rubber wristbands, called “Magic Bands” will make turnstiles a thing of the past, and it should shorten lines as well, by sending texts when a turn on a ride comes along, making paper tickets unnecessary and allowing guests to pay for snacks and souvenirs without having to reach for the wallet. It will also act as a room key for people staying on property.
There are some trade offs, Disney does get to learn a lot more about likes and dislikes, as well as spending habits. Some people may find this a bit creepy, but the truth is – in an environment like Walt Disney World, it can help make an experience a bit more custom, and a bit more shaped to the individual’s taste, instead of something more mass market. It’s like getting a bit more exclusive without excluding.
We think that this is a pretty nice enhancement to the Disney experience, and we’re pretty excited to try them out.

We don’t know exactly what it is, but once January comes around, people just like to start planning. It could be the new year, maybe its the stress of the holiday being in the rear view mirror, it might even be just people looking to escape the winter blahs. We just know that when travelers ring in the new year, they start to plan vacations for the year ahead. People in the travel industry often call the first three months of the year “wave season.” And booking during wave season can get you great deals. Clutching her official Disney autograph book, 5-year-old Dawn Stevens waited in her beautiful Cinderella gown. What made the stars in her eyes and the patient smile on her face?
“I’m going to get an autograph from Snow White,” the youngster said. “This will make almost 10 autographs that I have gotten.”
Since I don’t have any little ones in my home anymore, I was surprised to discover how many children are Disney character autograph collectors. It is really a big deal on my Disney Wonder cruise. Little girls especially dress up in their Disney character finery and wait to catch an autograph of their favorite character and then to be photographed together.
It’s a taste of the South Pacific without needing to bring the passport along. Hawaii easily makes our list of top destinations for 2013. Frankly, there’s so much to see and do that it would arguably make our list year after year. But this year in particular, there are so many great ways to see our 50th state, and birthplace of President Obama that it only makes sense to visit.
We’re big fans of the Walt Disney Travel Company. I guess, as an Authorized Disney Travel Planner, that sort of speaks for itself. However, we wanted to share some information about one of Disney’s newest travel destinations, Hawaii. Last year, Disney opened an incredible family-focused resort on the North Shore of Oahu, Aulani. And Aulani really works to create an authentic Hawaiian experience for its guests while still maintaining the excellent standards that Disney hotels and resorts have come to be known for. Take a look at this great video that shares a bit about this resort!
We’ve got lots of information to share about Aulani and all the other Disney travel products as well, just visit our new Disney website, World of Mickey.
As the Magic Kingdom starts opening more and more of the New Fantasyland portion of the park, one huge standout is the “Be Our Guest” restaurant which offers both quick service and table dining service in a setting modeled after the Beast’s castle from the movie “Beauty and the Beast.”
